ESD-Day in the Center for Practical Teacher Training
In order to establish the topic of ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) in teacher training, an event was held by the Center for Practical Teacher Training in Dortmund (ZfsL) on August 25, 2023. The four-member Sharkproject team from Dortmund were of course happy to be there to support the sustainability goals.

The event and the contribution of Sharkproject
In the morning, a simulation game on the ESD goals was conducted with all 180 educators from all types of schools. In the afternoon, initiatives such as Sharkproject presented their work at a "market of opportunities".
Our goal was to use the training to recruit teachers who would become active SHARK fluencers in their future schools. This path would significantly relieve the burden on school counselors moving across the country.
What is ESD?
17 Sustainable Development Goals
At the 2015 UN General Assembly, 193 nations agreed to 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
The goals are no longer aimed only at countries in the global South, but at all countries. The SDGs combine the social, ecological and economic dimensions of sustainability and are intended to make a decisive contribution to reconciling the protection of our environment, the fight against poverty, hunger or inequalities with the protection of our natural resources.
In simple words, 17 goals that we all must achieve if we are to live successfully on our planet.
What is an ZfsL?
This is where teachers in the German state of Nordrhein-Westfalen (NRW), take their second state examination. The Dortmund site is one of the largest ZfsLs in NRW.
